Productivity is up and weight is down!

Westtexgirl has encouraged me with her post on productivity, so between yesterday and today I have been uber productive. Also, I had this crazy weekend where I didn't have to prep an exam or grade an exam so, I felt like I could catch up around the house. This house has sorely been needing my 3 times annual "Between semester cleanup" You see, during the semester I try and get the minimal house cleaning done that needs to get done, like doing laundry basically when the last pair of underwear is being worn. Once the semester ends and I have time to really get in there and get stuff done, I literally write lists for each day until I clean each room in the house fairly thoroughly. It should probably be done more than 3x a year, but guess what, if you want it cleaner then you can be my daily housekeeper/maid like Alice on the Brady Bunch. Why the heck did Carol Brady need a housekeeper? she had like a gazillion kids to clean for her? And where was she? At the Junior League or something, WTH? It's not like they had to cut the grass outside, it was all astroturf out there. And who is paying for the maid on an Architects salary? Huh? Wha...? Oh yeah, sorry the blog...

I digress, anyway, here is my list of accomplishments this weekend, I am very proud (and an approval junkie) so I'll be waiting at the end for the pat on my back.

1. Got out of bed (ha ha just joking...)

1. (for real) Laundry: 3 loads of towels, one load of white underthings, one load, dark underthings, one load shirts and what nots, and the linens will be going in next... so yes all together that will be 7 loads total, washed, dried and put away.

2. Bathrooms: cleaned upstairs master toilet, both vanities, tub AND scrubbed shower (like on my hands and knees people!!). Cleaned downstairs, and guest bathrooms too.

3. Swept the kitchen and cleaned off the countertops

4. Swept the living room (hardwood floors) of the 5 extra kitties living under the TV and sofas (I only have 2 living cats that shed an extra 5 worth, luckily the extra 5 don't eat, or else thats alot of litterbox work, bleh)

5. Picked up all papers for recycling. This doesn't seem like a big deal, until you meet my husband. He is a paper hoarder. I know there is medication for his issue but he refuses. He simply stacks his Wallstreet Journals in various places and occasionally looks at them lovingly and says "I'll read them soon" then I hear him whisper quietly "My Precioussss" No really, we are both "pile-ers" so you know, we gotta clean it out before they fall on top of us and we die trapped under all our piles.

6. Planned weeks menu, wrote a grocery list and then went to the Grocery. Now I realize this doesn't seem like a huge deal, but the fact that this all happened in the same day is amazing. It makes me tremendously happy when I have my meals planned and I'm not anguishing over the question, "what should I make for dinner" I am solely responsible for our nutritional well being. This is a huge responsibility people!

7. Canned 7 more quarts of pickles. I had already canned 2 quarts a couple of weeks ago, but the inlaws had given us 2 more large bags of cucumbers with which to make pickles. I LOVE home canned pickles so while this one was a bit of a chore (wash the jars and lids with super hot water, dry them thoroughly, boil the brine, wash and chop about 8 lbs of cucumbers, chop onion and garlic and rinse the dill.) it was soooo worth it. I have 3 quarts traditional shelf pickles and 6 quarts icebox pickles. Some of you may have no idea what that means but it all means YUM! I
assure you!

8. Went to the movies with dh! Ok so not drudgery but still, something I wanted to do this weekend and I did! :)

9. Finally reviewed my Immunity lecture. *phew*

So as you can see, I've been one busy little bee. Though I have to echo what Westtexgirl said, accomplishment makes me happy. :)
